This program also serves as the crucial first step along the way to becoming a Licensed Professional Nurse (LPN) or a Registered Nurse (RN). Clinical Medical Assisting
Medical Assistants play an integral role in many health care settings, including hospitals, clinics, physician's offices, and urgent care facilities. With the advancement of knowledge and technology in medicine, medical assistants are involved in an ever widening scope of clinical and administrative duties. The demand for qualified, professional medical assistants is increasing. Training consists of classroom instruction followed by practical experience through a 160-hour externship in a medical facility.
Medical Office Assistant
The Medical Office Assisting Program at the College of Office Technology provides students with the skills and knowledge to find employment in a hospital, doctor’s office, or clinic. Along with learning the basic office tasks used in medical offices, students also learn billing and coding skills, qualifying them for higher salaries in a Medical Billing and Coding career. In just months of training, students can take advantage of the endless career opportunities that the skills acquired in the Medical Office Assistant Program will provide.
Phlebotomy
Phlebotomy is the science of collection blood samples to be used in patient lab analysis. Amongst the skills gained in this program are: microscopic lab analysis, obtaining an EKG, taking vital signs, and urinalysis. The program provides specialized training that qualifies students for various careers in medical offices, clinics, blood banks, and laboratories. This program will prepare students for the Phlebotomy Certification Exam.
Microcomputer Business Operations
Getting a Certificate or Diploma in Microcomputer Business Systems will prepare students for careers in the business/corporate setting. This program provides students with a complete knowledge of basic business applications. Upon completion, students will be well versed in Microsoft Office Applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access. In addition, students will gain expertise in the areas of database management, keyboarding, desktop publishing, and accounting. These skills combined provide the foundation needed to succeed in today’s rapidly changing business world. By earning the diploma, Microcomputer Business students can proceed to earning their Associates Degree.
Computer Operations Technology
In the Computer Operations Technology Program, students will acquire the skills to diagnose, fix, and troubleshoot computers. This program will also cover basic computer networking. The Computer Operations Technology program at the College of Office Technology provides students with all the necessary skills to qualify for entry-level positions in computer repair, computer sales, software installation, computer maintenance, service technician, and as technical support in a wide array of industries. Computer support personnel are needed in a wide array of industries including banking, public utilities, retail, health care, manufacturing, and transportation. Upon completing this program, students will also be prepared for A+ certification.
Computer Networking
Computer networking is the virtual connection of at least two computers, ranging from the use of LAN cords to blue tooth technology to the internet. Computer network experts are able to connect, manage, and troubleshoot a network of computers. The College of Office Technology provides students with a program designed specifically for these qualifications, allowing graduates opportunities in the careers of computer technology support in banking, public utilities, retail, health care, manufacturing, and transportation. The skills taught allow for expertise in network administration, software/hardware installation and manipulation, keyboarding, computer repair maintenance, and installing, managing, and troubleshooting network systems. This program will prepare students for A+ certification.
