Job Placement

At the heart of the mission of the College of Office Technology is the goal to see each and every graduate achieve meaningful employment in their chosen field. The College of Office Technology provides state-of-the-art Career Placement Specialists that work with our students to provide occupational placement after graduation. Each program is designed to strengthen vital employment-seeking skills, such as maintaining a positive attitude, gathering initial contacts, researching occupations and employers, employment test tactics, evaluating personal skills and interests, interviewing strategies, conducting an employment search, on-the-job survival tactics, using the internet for employment. Our Placement Staff assists graduates in defining their job goals and locating appropriate employment opportunities. Although the College cannot guarantee any person a job, it dedicates its resources to assisting students in gaining meaningful and rewarding employment.

Employment preparation is introduced during the course of training. A Career Development course strengthens the following vital employment-seeking skills:

Maintaining a positive attitude Gathering initial contacts
Researching occupations and employers Employment test tactics
Evaluating personal skills and interests Interviewing strategies
Conducting an employment search On-the-job survival tactics
Preparing resumes and cover letters Using the Internet

The Placement Staff assists graduates in defining their job goals and locating appropriate employment opportunities. In some cases, the Placement Staff will schedule interviews for participants.

During Job Club sessions, the College provides graduates with company and newspaper job listings, telephones, and a fax machine. More information about Job Club is available in the Student Success Handbook.

The College cannot guarantee any person a job, but dedicates its resources to assisting all graduates to gain meaningful and rewarding employment. Graduates may return for continuing assistance with career development for up to one year after completion of training. Career counseling, skills enhancement sessions, resume updates and job referrals are available by appointment.

THE MONSTER BOARD - One of the first career sites on the web with a good range of jobs available. Has a career section for new college grads.
NationJob -- Job Seekers: Search Jobs -This site has a great list of jobs, but many require experience. 
JobDirect.com -You can post your resume and get e-mail from them on new job openings. Good list of jobs, with a mix of entry-level and experience required.
It's Your Job Now! Nicely organized site, but you need to search by zip code. Luckily they have a handy zip code directory. Jobs are heavily business, engineering, sales oriented.
CareerSite.com -lots of good jobs in many different fields on this site.
Jobhunt-has great list of links but checking them out is very time consuming.
Yahoo! Classifieds - a great source of national jobs and area jobs from the classifieds.  Yahoo is still one of the best.
The Internet Job Source at statejobs.com - Lists jobs in every state by company, federal, state, or city government. Very good site!
Vault.com: Career Advancement for Professionals -has a nice job search function as well as great insider information.
