Is COT an accredited college?
Yes, COT is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS) for Certificate, Diploma, and Associate of Applied Science Degree Programs. COT is also approved by the Illinois State Board of Education and Illinois State Board of Higher Education.
Will I be accepted into one of COT's programs?
COT is a welcoming and accepting environment and the admissions department does its best to accept students who demonstrate the desire and ability to succeed in their course of study. However, COT can not guarantee admission and all applicants must meet the minimum requirements to be accepted.
Do I need a High School Diploma or GED to attend?
This depends on the program. COT does have program(s) that do not require a Diploma or GED. Applicants who do not have their Diploma or GED must pass the ATB examination prior to enrollment.
How long are the programs?
This also depends on the program. Program lengths are as short as 10 weeks. Our longest program requires 1 and a half years for completion.
What is the cost of the programs?
Program costs vary depending on the program. COT offers financial aid to those who qualify in the form of federal grants and loans.
When can I start my program?
There are new programs starting every month. Please call the admissions department for more information on upcoming programs.
What are the class schedules?
Students attend classes during either day or evening sessions.
Can COT guarantee me a job after I graduate?
COT does its best to secure employment for all students that complete their course of study. However, COT can not guarantee any student a job.
Are the courses I take at COT transferable to another college or university?
Transferability of credit depends on the course(s) taken and the college to which the credits would be transferred.
Can I still attend COT if I am in default on a student loan?
You could still attend COT, but applicants in default on a student loan would not be able to qualify for financial aid at the College of Office Technology. However, you might qualify for a deferment, forbearance, or another form of payment relief. Please contact the Department of Education Default Resolution at 1-800-621-3115.
How can I determine if I qualify for financial aid?
You can start by filling out the FAFSA online at http://studentaid.ed.gov/ this application will help you determine your financial aid eligibility.
