COMPUTER OPERATIONS TECHNOLOGY

In the Computer Operations Technology Program, students will acquire the skills to diagnose, fix, and troubleshoot computers. This program will also cover basic computer networking. The Computer Operations Technology program at the College of Office Technology provides students with all the necessary skills to qualify for entry-level positions in computer repair, computer sales, software installation, computer maintenance, service technician, and as technical support in a wide array of industries. Computer support personnel are needed in a wide array of industries including banking, public utilities, retail, health care, manufacturing, and transportation. Upon completing this program, students will also be prepared for A+ certification.

Vocational Objectives
Graduates may qualify for a variety of occupations in the computer field including microcomputer repair, maintenance, or computer support in banking, public utilities, retail, healthcare, manufacturing, transportation, etc.

Training Objectives
Through a variety of courses, students learn to diagnose, fix, and perform basic networking on personal computers. The student will have the ability to understand DOS, Windows, word processing, and spreadsheet software for business PC users. In addition, students will acquire skills in mathematics, English, business communications, professional development, and general office procedures.

Computer Operations Technology Certificate of Achievement
(36 Credit Hours)

To receive a Certificate of Achievement in Computer Operations Technology, a student must successfully complete (D or better) 36 credit hours of the core curriculum courses and have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or better.

Graduates will meet entry-level qualifications for the following positions:
*Computer Repair
*Computer Salesperson
*Computer Maintenance
*Installation Specialist
*Technical Support Specialist in peripherals
