What is Computer Operations Technology?

Our Computer Operations Technology course provides in-depth training about computers, networks, and the Internet, and it helps the students begin to make great progress in a computer career.

Computer Training is Right for the Right Person

A Computer Professional handles everything related to the computer system, networks, and the Internet. This kind of position is right for someone who enjoys making things work, because computer problems are endless. A computer technician rises to the occasion, figures out solutions, and helps everyone make progress. Deep down, a computer person enjoys those challenges.

Relatedly, this position is right for someone who enjoys building things -- both virtually (inside a system) and physically (constructing hardware).

Furthermore, the computer industry is right for someone who is self-motivated and likes jumping into projects with a lot of unknowns in them. The right person is also creative, because building and designing computer systems requires a lot of imagination.

The Right Computer Technology Instructors

COT's instructors are all highly experienced and knowledgeable. They have extensive experience with computers and business, and they bring that into the school. Furthermore, COT's instructors are totally committed to every student's success, and that is seen all the time in the classrooms and computer labs.
A major difference: Hands-on training
At COT, we believe the best training comes from physically working with computers, so we provide a state of the art high-tech learning environment for our students. The entire experience is very interactive, with students getting inside the hardware and understanding how everything works. In this "learning by doing" setting, students can become more confident about their ability to resolve issues and make everything work better.

Also, "hands-on" means learning to type. We provide extensive typing training, and this prepares graduates for one of the most essential activities in business.

Modern Computer Laboratories

Inside COT, there are impressive computer laboratories that give students hands-on experience with computers and networks. Here, students take apart computers and put them back together -- and that's just the beginning. This learning-by-doing training provides a practical understanding of how a computer operates, and it prepares the graduate to handle computer issues in Chicagoland organizations.
