Career Development Course
Employment preparation is introduced during the course of training. A Career Development course strengthens the following vital employment-seeking skills:
- Salary negotiation
- Maintaining a positive attitude
- Gathering job contacts
- Researching occupations and employers
- Employment test tactics
- Evaluating personal skills and interests
- Interviewing strategies
- Conducting an employment search
- On-the-job survival tactics
- Preparing resumes and cover letters
- Mock interviews/Job Preparation
- Time management
Students will learn the importance of resume writing, interviewing skills, salary negotiation and networking techniques. Students taking the course may also have the opportunity to learn about the best ways to change careers or gain work experience. Majority of the class time will consists of preparing a marketable resume, cover letter and discussion of, and practice interview questions and issues.
Student will learn to:
- Create a Resume
- Create a Cover Letter
- Create a references Page (Minimum of four professional references)
- Write thank you letters
- Students will also learn how to explore their career options
- Learn how to best market themselves to potential and current employers
- Tailor their resumes to match a job opening
- Search for job opportunities and establish career goals
- Complete online application
- Students will complete at least two mock interviews
